Why get Insulation Installed?

While insulation is typically not a sexy upgrade because you can’t see it, it’s working hard behind the scenes, and is often one of the best home upgrades you can do.

Combined with an energy audit and air sealing, there are crucial roles insulation will play in the comfort, moisture and temperature management, and energy savings in your home.

Here are just some of the benefits of better insulation:

  • Significantly slows down the heat transfer into and out of the house, especially during days with extreme temperatures (both hot and cold).
  • Leads to lower utility bills.
  • Eliminate or drastically reduce cold floors, cold walls, and hot or cold individual rooms.
  • Less HVAC maintenance costs because it usually can run less.
  • Can lead to better sound proofing and noise control, both from other rooms within the home and from outside.
  • Better home durability.
  • Better condensation, humidity, and moisture control.

EXPONENTIAL SAVINGS WITH COMBO EFFICIENCY PROJECTS

did you know?

Along with air sealing, insulation is one of the best bang-for-the-buck efficiency projects you can do.

This is because air sealing helps keep your conditioned air inside the home for longer, while insulation helps slow down your heating (winter) or cooling loss (summer). The benefits of doing both are many:

  • More comfort in your home
  • Lower energy bills
  • Sets you up perfectly for a great home electrification plan
  • Helps new heat pumps work less hard, and more efficiently, while increasing equipment longevity.
  • Allows for a smaller solar panel system because you don’t need to create as much power in the first place.
  • Allows you to maximize local rebates, like Xcel’s Whole Home Efficiency 25% bonus rebate program.
  • Much more
FAQ

do you have a question?

We’ll try to answer the most common ones here, but please reach out if you don’t find your answer!

Insulation costs can be as little as a few hundred dollars to many thousands. It really depends on your individual home needs, what the energy audit report tells us, and really just how much work is needed to get your home to a good level. Every home is different, and so are your individual goals! We take both into account.

We sure do! You can fill out our contact form here or give us a call. The more detail the better so we can save you time, and we may not even need to go out to your home if we can do a video call or have a few pictures.

In order to get Xcel Energy rebates, and especially the 25% bonus rebate, Xcel requires us to start with a BPI-Certified energy audit.

Maybe. Not usually by itself, but it’s one of the first and major steps to home comfort and efficiency.

To make any kind of impact, we have to most likely do some air sealing upgrades as well. We present the projects that are likely to make a difference after our energy audit, and you can pick and choose what you like. We’re all about a holistic approach and what makes sense in your household and what’s within your budget.

The good news is that once you do projects like air sealing and insulation, it really sets up the home for bigger projects like heat pumps and solar energy.

You can also sometimes save thousands of dollars with smaller heat pumps and solar energy systems due to not needing to produce as much energy to run a leaky and poorly insulated house. It’s more efficiency (energy and your wallet) all the way around!
